Every autumn one shade leads. This year it is 03, Grenat.
What it is
A garnet red, deep and a little blue, in our velvet finish. Velvet sets flatter than satin, with no shine at all once it is dry, so the colour reads as pigment rather than gloss. In low light it looks almost black. When you turn your head, it flashes red.
Why now
We wanted a red for wool and dark rooms, for the months when the light goes by five. Grenat sits between Lacre, our house red, and Sang de Boeuf, the oxblood, and it does something neither of them does: it changes with the light you are in.
How to wear it
Clean skin, brushed brows. Grey, navy, camel, black. It is very good with silver. If you are new to dark lips, start with one coat pressed in with a fingertip; it becomes a stain that reads as your own mouth, only deeper.
On every skin
On fair skin it is dramatic and cool. On medium skin it turns warmer and richer. On deep skin it reads as a true berry with a red edge. We photographed it on six skins for the shade page, without retouching the colour.
Grenat is in every stockist from the first of October, and in the coffret of three with Lacre and Minuit.
